New York Giants NFL Draft Team Needs

2010 NFL Draft Needs of the New York Giants

Current Depth Chart of the New York Giants

Inside Linebacker
With the recent release of Antonio Pierce, the Giants now have a hole wider than the one between Michael Strahan’s teeth in the middle of their defense.  They currently have Jonathan Goff and Chase Blackburn battling it out to be the starter.  That is a major problem.  The Giants should address this need early in the draft.

Safety
The loss of Kenny Phillips was a huge blow to this defense last year.  They didn’t have a quality backup on the roster either and had to sign Packers cast off Aaron Rouse to help out.  Not a good situation to be in.  They’ll look to add a safety with solid coverage skills to play opposite Phillips.

Defensive Tackle
Starter Barry Cofield is a nice run stuffer but his accomplice Fred Robbins is aging and becoming ineffective.  They should look for a disruptive d-tackle to pair with Cofield and could do so within the first three rounds.
