Minnesota Vikings 7 Round Mock – April Edition 1.0
Less than 2 weeks away from the big day and Lupagus doesn’t hesitate to throw a wrench in things with a 1st round trade. Minnesota gets their big receiver in round 1 and manage to fill a plethora of holes in the following rounds. Bask it in, as there will only be 2 more before the big day.
Viking 7 Round Mocks | January Edition | February Edition | March 1.0
Round 1. TRADE (Pick 18) – Laquon Treadwell WR, Ole Miss
The Vikings give up a 4th rounder to move up to the 18th pick to secure the man they want. Treadwell is the big bodied receiver the Vikings lack. He can go up and make tough contested catches, and has a big catch radius. Treadwell is also an excellent run blocker, which makes him all the more tempting for the Purple. He can have a huge impact on the Vikings passing game in year one, and help take this offense to the next level.
Round 2. (Pick 54) – Shon Coleman OT, Auburn
The Vikings go offense again, this time getting a big offensive tackle. Matt Kalil could be down to his last year with the team and they have no one waiting in the wings to take his spot. Coleman is an experienced left tackle, who has held his own against the best the SEC has to offer. There are some concerns with him medically, but if the Vikings are comfortable with the rechecks and reports, he could be brought in as Kalil’s heir.
Round 3. (Pick 86) – Miles Killebrew S, Southern Utah
Anyone who has read a single word of any of my mocks this Draftseason, knows my deep, undivided love for Killebrew. He absolutely explodes off of tape with his aggressive playing style. He’s instinctive, a big hitter, and can make plays on the ball. Pairing him with Harrison Smith would be unreal. Yes, there are concerns about his level of competition, but that is where the Michael Griffin signing comes in handy. They can bring the Killer along slowly, let him learn from the aged veteran, get him up to the speed of the NFL game, and then unleash him full time in 2017.
Round 4. (Pick 118) Traded To Colts in Treadwell deal
Round 5. (Pick 148) – Anthony Zettel DE, Penn St.
The Vikings need a little more depth at defensive end. Yup they are good at the top with Griffen, Hunter, and Robison, but after that it is sketchy. Zettel is a firey competitor who is quick off the snap. He’s versatile too, and can play any position on the defensive line. Not a bad set of skills for a 5th rounder.
Round 6. (Pick 162) – De’Vondre Campbell OLB, Minnesota
The Vikings go with a local boy here who has made it known he’d love to be a Viking. The team’s need at outside linebacker is pretty widely known with Greenway entering his farewell season. Campbell has great size and moves well with it. He is a bit slow at reading plays, but that’ll come in time. He is a long shot, but has the tools to become a solid NFL player and heir apparent to Greenway.
Round 7. (Pick 208) – Drew Kaser P, TAMU
Not a ton to say here. The Vikings really can’t go into the 2016 season without at least bringing in some competition for Jeff Locke. Kaser has a booming leg and should give Locke a run for his money.
Round 7. (Pick 212) – Ian Seau OLB, Nevada
It’s round 7, why not take a chance on a guy who is related to one of the greatest linebackers in the history of the league? Seau is a good pass rusher who needs to improve on the rest of his game. Still, he could make some plays as a rookie in part of a rotation.
