5 Things To Watch For in the Vikings 3rd Preseason Game

The Vikings are finally home playing their first game in US Bank Stadium this Sunday afternoon.  There are many hot topics to look for when watching this contest, and here are five of them.

5. The Look and Feel of US Bank

This Sunday’s game will be the first ever played at US Bank Stadium.  How will it look and feel on TV for those watching at home?  Will there be weird shadows? Will it be nice and bright and feel like the game is outdoors?  How loud will it be?  Lots of intrigue with the new stadium and this Sunday’s game will be the first to test how much of an advantage this field really gives the Purple.

4. Laquon He Get Open?

There is no way to sugar coat it, Laquon Treadwell didn’t look god against the Seahawks.  The first rounder struggled to get any type of separation and poorly misjudged the one ball he could have caught.  It was a big step back after such a solid debut against the Bengals.  Treadwell will look to have much more success versus a secondary that isn’t nearly what he faced a week ago.

3. All Out of Locke?

Jeff Locke started out last week’s game nicely by pinning the Seahawks inside the five.  After that things got real ugly.  He had multiple touch backs, and then shanked a punt which gave Seattle excellent field position.  It really is mind boggling how he is even still on the roster.  Maybe the Vikings are just waiting to see who gets released when the final 53’s come out, and then plan on grabbing the best option.  The team may be wise to start trying out a new holder for Walsh this week, because Locke’s time with the team really needs to end soon.

2. Safety Battle

In week one, it was Jayron Kearse making a name for himself with some big plays against the Bengals.  In week two, veteran Michael Griffin stepped up and played pretty well.  So a murky situation got even murkier.  Who will step up in the biggest preseason game of the year?  Can Kearse bounce back? Will Griffin make it two in a row?  Or will  someone like Antone Exum step up his game and turn the heads of the coaching staff?  Only time will tell.

1. Will Teddy Play?

The biggest shocker last Thursday night in Seattle was that Teddy Bridgewater didn’t play a snap.  All head coach Mike Zimmer would say is that it was his decision and Teddy was fine.  Then later in the week ESPN reported that Bridgewater had a sore shoulder.  So will no. 5 take the field this Sunday? Fans will be watching close if he does, and will see if he shows any signs of soreness or injury.  The Vikings would be wise to let him play into the third quarter, getting plenty of reps, before resting him until the season opener against the Titans.

Wow! This blog looks just like my old one! It’s on a totally different topic but it has pretty much the same page layout and design. Outstanding choice of colors!
