DraftSeason: Calais, how tough of a decision was it for you to forgoe your senior year and enter the 2008 NFL Draft?
Calais: It was very tough because I bleed orange and green and I love Miami, but after discussions with my family and a lot of praying I came to the conclusion that it was time to fulfill my dream.
DraftSeason: At 6'8 it's no secret your size intimidates the opposing offensive line, does such a great body run in the family? Where did it come from?
Calais: Well, I have 5 brothers, 4 of whom currently play college football so athleticism runs in the family but my size is unique. My younger is the next tallest at 6'4 1/2" but he only weighs 210. My mom always said she doesn't know how I got so big, because no else is even close
DraftSeason: You have had the chance to play with and against some greats at the U of Miami, which player has "wowed" you the most on the football field?
Calais: Frank Gore, because how hard he worked and how he never gave up in adversity! Plus he is the hardest guy I have ever had to tackle, but I was a lot smaller back
DraftSeason:
A lot of teams like the Jets, Vikings, and Titans, will be looking for a first round defensive end, do you have any preference what team or city you would like to play for?
Calais:
No I do not have a preference, I just want an opportunity to play in the NFL and a chance to win a Superbowl in my career and leave my mark in the record books!
DraftSeason: What current NFL Defensive player would you most compare your style of play too?
Calais: When I was young it was Javon Kearse, but now I would have to say Peppers or Mario Williams, but it's hard to compare because I have a different style, we are just similar in style. But I respect Ray Lewis' game the most and would compare him to me because I feel like we share the same passion for the game.
DraftSeason: What is more rewarding to you, sacking the quarterback for a big loss or crunching a bone jarring hit that forces a fumble?
Calais: I just Love making the play to give my team a chance to win, whether it is sacking the QB or causing a fumble. I just Love being around the ball and contact.
DraftSeason: Any certain NFL quarterback you are looking forward to getting your hands on?
Calais: Tom Brady because it seems like he never gets hit, so I will love to get my hands on him.
DraftSeason: Finally Calais, do you have anything in store for us as far as a sack dance?
Calais: Not yet, I am just a passionate player so I am sure it will be whatever I am feeling at the time.
