California Golden Bears College Football Preview

The University of California Golden Bears are coming of a good season going 8-5 ( 5-4 in the PAC-10) and going to the Poinsettia Bowl but Losing to Utah 27-37.

The Golden Bears are returning some really good player this season including:

QB Kevin Riley SR. 6-2 233
RB Shane Vereen JR. 5-10 199
WR Marvin Jones JR. 6-2 197
DE Cameron Jordan SR. 6-4 282
LB Mike Mohamed SR. 6-3 238
FS Sean Catthouse JR. 6-2 208
P Bryan Anger JR. 6-4 201

The Golden bears did lose some great players and team leaders including DE Tyson Alualu Round 1 Pick 10 Jags, RB Jahvid Best Round 1 Pick 30 Lions, CB Syd’Quan Thompson Round 7 Pick 18 Broncos.

Most People will look at Cal and say that the Running game will be a weakness this year because of the loss of First round pick Jahvid Best but JR. Shane Vereen looks more then ready to carry the load. At Stanford last season Vereen rushed for 193 yards and 3 touchdowns when Best was out with an injury. I have the Cal Golden Bears going 6-6 (4-5 In the Pac-10) but they could Win around 8 if the Passing game and the Defense Play better then Expected.

The University of California Golden Bears 2010 Schedule:
9/4 UC Davis
9/11 Colorado
9/17 @ Nevada
9/25 @ Arizona
10/9 UCLA
10/16 @USC
10/23 Arizona State
10/30 @ Oregon State
11/6 @ Washington State
11/13 Oregon
11/20 Stanford
11/27 Washington

The Golden Bears could make it back to a Bowl game this year but won’t do any better in the Pac-10 then they did last season.
