DraftSeason: Chad, how do you feel you stack up against some of the other tackle prospects who come from a bigger program and face stiffer competition?
Chad: I feel that I stack up well against the other tackles. I have started four years and faced nearly every situation possible in games. The other tackles may play tougher competition game to game but I have played against quality players throughout my career.
DraftSeason: Would you say you are a stronger pass or run blocker?
Chad: I feel that currently I am a stronger run blocker. Coming out of high school I didn't really know the techniques of pass setting so I was really behind. I feel that I am still a stronger run blocker but my pass setting has improved the most through college.
DraftSeason: Who was your favorite NFL lineman and team growing up?
Chad: My favorite team growing up was the Steelers and my favorite linemen to watch has been Walter Jones.
DraftSeason: Who was the best defender you've ever battled against?
Chad: Chad Greenway probably has been the most successful of the players I have faced.
DraftSeason: What is more important for an offensive lineman to have to be successful: brute strength and size, or great technique?
Chad:
Great technique definitely is more important. You can not be successful without technique because you will always be a step behind if your feet are wrong or out leveraged if your hands are outside. Strength and size only help when applied with correct technique.
DraftSeason: How much does it bother you if you get beat for a sack during a game? Does it motivate you to do better or does it get in your head and kind of eat at you as the game wears on?
Chad: It bothers me a lot anytime I make a mistake. I think it makes me refocus my mind more than anything. I know that if I am playing my game than I won't give up a sack so I try to learn from the mistake and correct my technique so it won't happen again.
DraftSeason: If you could play one of the "Sexy" positions on offense what would it be and why?
Chad: I don't know if it's a "sexy" position but I think I could play tight end. I love to be physical so I still would be by blocking. I also wouldn't mind running a route once or twice a game so I could do that at tight end.
DraftSeason: Chad, please finish this sentence, After battling with Chad Rinehart for 4 quarters a defensive lineman feels like he just_______________.
