DraftSeason: Chris, you come from a long line of Aggies with your uncle Dave Elmendorf, who was an All-Pro Safety in the NFL with the Rams, being the most notable. How much has it helped you having members of your family be succesful not only at the collegiate level but also the pro level?
Chris: It's been a great experience being an Aggie and following in the footsteps of my uncle and grandfather. I couldn't have imagined a better college experience, winning a Big 12 Championship would have been nice. I enjoyed having my uncle around as council for me about football and about life. He would have a few of my teammates and I out to his place for dinner and we'd talk football and he'd tell stories of his days as an Aggie and as a member of the Rams. It's always been a dream of mine to play football professionally and having my uncle around to support me has made a tremendous impact on my life.
DraftSeason: What would you say your greatest strenghts as a player are?
Chris: I would say that my work ethic and motor and my two greatest assets as a player, I also feel that I am a student of the game and my ability to study my opponent will help me as I transition to the NFL. God has blessed me with size and speed, but every one at this level has those, these are the things that will set me apart.
DraftSeason: What aspect of your game could use the most improvement?
Chris: I think I need to quit thinking sometimes and just rely on my instincts.
DraftSeason: Who has been the best offensive tackle you have ever battled against in a game?
Chris: The best O-Lineman I have ever faced was Jamal Brown OT from OU. He is starting for the Saints now and I remember watching him on film and being really impressed. It was a solid battle and probably ended up being a draw.
DraftSeason: What has been the highlight of you career at Texas A&M?
Chris: Being part of a team that beat Texas two years in a row.
DraftSeason: What are some things #92 likes doing when he isn't busy wreaking havoc on the gridiron?
Chris: I love anything to do with the outdoors, fishing, hunting, playing golf. I have a chocolate lab named Duke and he lives to play ball so I enjoy taking him out and playing fetch.
DraftSeason: In 2006, you were elected a permanent team captain by your teammates. How much did that mean to you, knowing that your teammates look up to you and see you in that role?
Chris: It's something I'll never forget. To think that my teammates thought highly enough of me to elect me to that position was a great honor. They have a tradition of putting the names of the captains for each team on the wall in the football facility at A&M and knowing that my name will be there forever is a pretty cool feeling.
DraftSeason: Lastly, describe your style of play using only one word.
Chris: Relentless |
