Dorian Smith
College : Oregon St.
Position: Defensive End

Bio: Smith is a former JUCO player who transferred to Oregon St. and made an immediate impact. He has great pass rushing skills, is relentless in pursuit, and is a great athlete.

DraftSeason: You transferred out of Junior College in 2005, and made an immediate impact in your first full season for the Beavers, to what do you attribute your fast start to?
Dorian: My teammates helped me out tremendously! I've heard a lot of horror stories coming out of a JC and having teammates treat JC guys like an outsider or telling you the wrong assignment on plays; but none of that happened here. I received a ton of help from my coaches and teammates; it made my transition very easy.

DraftSeason: Are you they type of defensive end who is going to get up and do a little dance after making a sack or a big tackle for a loss? Or do you just go back to the huddle and let your play do the talking?
Dorian: I have never really been the type of guy to dance or celebrate after making a big play. My teammates are starting to get on me about that, so I plan to bust some moves the next chance I get.

DraftSeason: What are your greatest strengths on the field? What are some of your weaknesses?
Dorian: I think my greatest strength is my ability to adapt and my athleticism. I tend to pick up on people tendencies and adapt to them, after that I let my athleticism do the rest. My biggest weakness might be being too anxious to get to the ball. I've noticed that it might put my teammates out of position to make the play. Everyone has weaknesses; I just try to work on them every day in practice.

DraftSeason: Who has been the best player you have ever faced in your career with the Beavers?
Dorian: Our conference has so many great players; it's hard to just name one. I think Rudy Carpenter (the QB at ASU) was the best player because he just took the game over when we played them. We had him trapped in the pocket a bunch of times but he found a way to sneak out and make plays, and help his team win.

DraftSeason: If you could sack any current NFL quarterback who would it be and why?
Dorian: I would love to sack Vince Young. He just doesn't go down, he's a playmaker. To sack him in the pocket would be an accomplishment.

DraftSeason: How would you describe your style of play?
Dorian: Organized chaos. I play team ball, I'm not selfish at all, and I try to play the defense as well as I can without being predictable to the offensive lineman. I get just as excited to take on two blockers and see Derrick make a huge play as I would if I made the play.

DraftSeason: What is your all time favorite movie?
Dorian: It's a tie between Coming to America, and I'm Gonna Get You Sucka!. I love comedies, my friends and I randomly repeat lines from these movies all the time. SEXUAL CHOCLATE! That's classic; that will be funny forever.

DraftSeason: Finally please finish this sentence, After a quarterback gets sacked by Dorian Smith, he feels like he just got______________
Dorian: Violated! He's also thinking, Man, how many guys are the bringing? Because we've got guys like Derrick Doggett, Victor Butler, and Slade Norris that live in the backfield.
