Ernest Wheelwright
College : Minnesota
Position: Wide Receiver

Bio: One of the best junior wide receivers in the nation. With the departure of Laurence Maroney, Wheelwright will get plenty of chances to showcase his skills.

DraftSeason: What made you decide to go to Minnesota?
Ernest: It was easy, my best friend Justin Valentine was coming up here and we talked about it, and Trumaine Banks stayed up the street from me and he would come over every time he was home trying to get me to come. but It was between Minnesota or Michigan State!

DraftSeason: What is your biggest goal of your junior season?
Ernest: My biggest goal is to win the Big Ten and go to a January first game! Also lead receivers in the Big ten with Y.A.C yards and touchdowns

DraftSeason: How do you feel you stack up against the other receivers in the nation?
Ernest: I feel I stack up good against other receivers in the nation! I'm just on a running team! When we pass the ball I make the big plays and get the Job done! but when you have a player like Laurence Maroney on your team who can carry the ball 40 times a game then who needs to pass (laughing) but it will be different this year trust me.

DraftSeason: You have a perfect frame for a NFL wideout, how do you describe your style of gameplay?
Ernest: Anquan Boldin type of player big and have speed and can make the big play! people don't talk much about him but he is someone people respect at the Wideout spot. With a little chad Johnson trash talk in their too.

DraftSeason: Who would you say is the best player you've ever faced?
Ernest: Scott Starks from Wisconsin my Freshman year! he was fast and he talked more then I did. He made me step my game up to another level! But other then that, NOBODY! (Laughing) Best player I seen play was Braylon Edwards the way he took over games was like a man playing with boys.

DraftSeason: Is there anything you feel you need to improve on to excel at the professional level?
Ernest: Its all ways things I need to improve on like speed, getting bigger, route running etc. I'm always have to work to get better! I'm good but I'm not good enough.

DraftSeason: Is there any significance to the number that you wear?
Ernest: I had 82 in High school but I switch my number to 1 this year. I had 1 in all my All Star games I played in and I like it, So I said this is going to be and All Star season so way not switch to 1. Plus I want to live up to all the other number 1's.

DraftSeason: What's the best part about being a Golden Gopher?
Ernest:: Just the team, we are all like family, brothers you can say.

DraftSeason: The Gophs have a chance to have an explosive passing game this year, do you feel senior QB Cupito is up to the challenge of getting his receivers the ball?
Ernest: I know he is ready! He tells me everyday that he is going to get us the ball! Cupito is the type of person who is ready for anything! and me and him has started playing here at the same time so we know each other pretty good. Logan Payne is also a big time player too.

DraftSeason: We like to call you "Hot Wheels" around DraftSeason headquarters, got any particular nicknames our readers should know about?
Ernest: (Laughs) Hot Wheels is cool. I like that
