Minnesota Vikings NFL Draft Team Needs

2010 NFL Draft Needs of the Minnesota Vikings

Current Depth Chart of the Minnesota Vikings

Cornerback
Cedric Griffin had off season surgery on his ACL and Winfield is not getting younger. Minnesota’s depth at corner was taken advantage of many times throughout the year. Karl Paymah made it tough to watch at times.  Benny Sapp had his moments and youngster Asher Allen could prove to be an asset in 2010 but all in all Minnesota needs to look very closely at corner early on in April.

Defensive Line
Depending on free agency (Ray Edwards) and retirements (Pat Williams) defensive line could be a large need to fill. Even if Ray Edwards stays it will still be tempting to grab a youngster who can push him for his spot. At defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy was a nice surprise filling in for Pat Williams but like Edwards, it could be upgraded early in the draft.

Quarterback
The big question is if Favre comes back. If he does the Vikings can hold off another year. If he does in fact retire that leaves them with Jackson as the starting quarterback. Something that should strike fear in Vikings fans across the state of Minnesota. Either way look for the Vikings to grab a 2nd tier quarterback in the mid rounds.
