New England Patriots NFL Draft Team Needs

2010 NFL Draft Needs of the New England Patriots

Current Depth Chart of the New England Patriots

Outside Linebacker
Adalius Thomas was a dissapointment last year and players like Pierre Woods, Tully Banta-Cain, and Derrrick Burgess
are serviceable at best.  The Pats would be wise to add young pass rusher who can make the kind of impact players like Brian Orakpo, Clay Matthews, and Brian Cushing did last year.

Running Back
Laurence Maroney actually showed some life last season but there is too much negative history on his side to make anyone beleive he has turned the corner.  Kevin Faulk is a nice third down options and only seems to get better with age, while Fred Taylor looks to be done. The Patriots should look to add a nice young back with one of their second round picks.

Wide Receiver
Randy Moss is 33 years old and starting to show some signs of aging.  Wes Welker is likely going to miss either all of next season or a large portion of it as he recovers from that devastating knee injury.  Julian Edelman showed he can fill that slot receiver spot but the Patriots need to find a solid no. 2 option opposite Moss, and could do so as early as round 2.
