DraftSeason: What are you currently sitting at height and weight? What do you want to be at come April?
Jason: I am currently 6’7″ and 314 pounds. I expect to weigh close to the same amount in April, but through intensive training, I will be in better shape and have a lower body fat percentage.
DraftSeason: You will be one of the most experienced and dominating offensive lineman in the draft. Where do you feel you rank amongst the other top offensive lineman in the nation?
Jason: I have a great deal of confidence in myself and I believe in my abilities. I have started four years at the University of Miami and feel that I have gotten better each year. I have had the benefit of great coaching and look forward to continuing to learn and develop at the next level. In terms of where I rank amongst other linemen, I will leave that evaluation to the NFL teams. I just need to concentrate on myself and becoming the best that I can be. If I do that, I am confident that the NFL teams will like what they see.
DraftSeason: What has been your proudest football moment to date at Miami?
Jason: My proudest football moment to date was beating Florida State in the first game of the season this past year. We went up there and got a great win that got our season started in the right direction. It is always great to get a win against one of our biggest rivals.
DraftSeason: Do you consider yourself more of a dominating pass or run blocker?
Jason: I have had a lot of success as a dominating pass blocker in that I have 47 starts in four years and have only allowed one sack. However, I also take great pride in my run blocking and feel that I have been a vital contributor to our running game. As such, I like to consider myself a dominating blocker whether it is a pass or a run.
DraftSeason: Throughout your college career, which defensive lineman gave you the most trouble?
Jason: One of the reasons I went to Miami was so I could play against some of the best defensive linemen in the country and I have enjoyed that challenge each year. I faced Chris Long, Everette Brown, Jason Worlds, Derrick Morgan, and Michael Johnson and didn’t allow any of those great pass rushers to get to our quarterback – no sacks and no pressures. I would actually have to say that the best defensive linemen I have faced have been the ones I go against in practice every day. We have had some great linemen here at the U which I think prepared me well to shut down the premiere linemen I had to face on Saturdays.
DraftSeason: If you could chose, which NFL quarterback would you most want to be blocking for this time next year?
Jason: If I had the opportunity to chose, I would want to block for the NFL quarterback who wins the Super Bowl next year.
DraftSeason: Any young offensive lineman at the U we should keep our eyes on the next few years?
Jason: I really think we have some great years ahead of us at the U and all of our young linemen are great. If I had to name a few, I would say that Orlando Franklin will have a dominating senior year and Tyler Horn and Brandon Washington are two other younger guys who should play extremely well next year.
DraftSeason: Finally Jason, what do you enjoy most when your not bustin heads on the football field?
Jason: When I am not playing football, I really enjoy spending time with my teammates. We are a close group and we hang out all the time together. We go to eat several times a week together and do other things such as bowling or going to the movies
