DraftSeason: Shannon, you are considered to be one of the best
offensive guards in the Nation, do you feel any added pressure going into the season to perform at the level that is being expected of you?
Shannon: I don't feel any added pressure. I know if I play my best and give it 100
percent then ill be fine.
DraftSeason: What would you say is the strongest part of your
game?
Shannon: I think my run game because I love to do it.
DraftSeason: Who has been the best defensive lineman you'veever had to battle against in a game?
Shannon: That's an easy one. Haloti (Ngata) I think that's how you spell his name. I played
him my first year and he was the toughest I ever played against since then.
DraftSeason: Who was your favorite team/player growing up?
Shannon: My favorite college team was the team down across town, my favorite NFL team the
Radiers. My favorite player growing up was Junior Seau.
DraftSeason: What do you like best about playing the guard position?
Shannon: The best thing about it is that it's a major challenge. I love to battle
and hit, and at the guard spot you're always hitting someone. I take a lot of pride in playing o-line even though we get no love, I still love the job and I'm glad I play it.
DraftSeason: What does big #71 like doing in his spare time when he isn't busting heads on the football field?
Shannon: I love to play spades, me and my family always play. Like football, I take spades veery serious and I hate losing.
DraftSeason: If you had to describe your style of play using
only one word which would it be and why?
Shannon: Aggressive, thats the only way you can play as a lineman. If you don't love what you do as a lineman then you won't get the job done. And in order to get the job done you have to be real aggressive.
DraftSeason: Lastly, what are your expectations/goals going into the season both personally and team wise?
Shannon: Team wise we want to win the Pac 10 and take it from there, we also
want to be the best o-line in the nation. We want our running back to win the Heisman. For myself I just want to be healthy and do
whatever it takes for my team to win. I'd rather win the national title then win any award. I really feel like this is our year, we just have to take it one game at a time.
