DraftSeason: We aren't going to beat around the bush here Tyler, do you feel you can be a franchise left tackle at the next level?
Tyler: Well I would be naive to say that I am anywhere close to that right now. However, I wouldn't play the game if I didn't have confidence in myself that I am capable of being a great player at the next level. I still have some filling out to do, but I think that is a plus for me. I feel I have the athleticism and footwork and when the strength and size continue to come around I feel I can definately help a team out.
DraftSeason: What would you say is the strongest aspect of your game?
Tyler: I feel like I play well on the move. I can pull well, and get down field without getting offbalance. My footwork has also allowed me to have pretty good pass blocking up to this point.
DraftSeason: In what areas do you need the most improvement?
Tyler: I need to become more explosive in the run game. I think that is a product of my overall strength, which is coming along nicely with my combine prep.
DraftSeason:
What would you say was the highlight of your career at Colorado?
Tyler:
Well we have had a lot of up and downs in my career here. The win over Oklahoma this year stands out, along with winning in Lincoln against Nebraska in 2004. However, I would say the overall experience of turning a 2-10 team around into a successful and competitive team has been my biggest thrill.
DraftSeason: Who was the best player you ever faced in your college career?
Tyler: I had the opportunity of playing against a lot of quality opponents. I have played Gaines Adams, Quentin Moses, Adam Carriker, Wallace Gilberry, Tim Crowder, among many others....but I would have to say that Adam Carriker gave it to me the hardest. That is not a film that I will be showing off to my kids in 20 years.
DraftSeason: If you could play any other position (offense or defense) which would it be and why?
Tyler: I would have to say linebacker. I think that is probably the only position outside of the lines that can show how big of a man you are. They get to bring it every play. They are in on every play, and it just seems like a lot of fun to take on a running back at full speed.
DraftSeason: What will the team that drafts Tyler Polumbus be getting?
Tyler: They are going to get a hard worker that keeps his head down and goes to work every day. I am going to stay out of trouble and be a guy that the team can rely on. Whether that means playing hurt, or just doing every rep in the weight room. I can be held accountable.
DraftSeason: Lastly, you are a huge man, what does a guy your size usually eat in a given day?
Tyler: Thats a funny question. I actually have to work really hard to keep the weight on. If I don't eat like a madman I am liable to lose 2 or 3 pounds in a day. I will eat a solid 4 or 5 meals a day.
