The Vikings don’t play until tomorrow night …. so why not bust out a quick 3 round 2018 Vikings Mock Draft. As of now based off of injuries and overall play I have the Vikings projected to pick somewhere in the middle of the pack (pick 15-20).
Round 1. Quenton Nelson G, Notre Dame
The offensive line has no doubt seen a huge improvement from last year, and yes they have a very intriguing prospect in Danny Isidora waiting in the wings. But Nelson is a day 1 starter. Current right guard Berger is roughly 56 years old and could very well be done after this year. Current left guard Easton has done OK, but honestly I enjoy him more as a depth player. The thought of the Vikings interior line consisting of Pat Elfein, Quenton Nelson, and Danny Isidora gives me the warm and fuzzies … the good kind of warm and fuzzies.
Round 2. Jaire Alexander CB, Louisville
Waynes has at times showed flashes that he can be a very good #2 corner, but has also showed at times …… that he is a liability in the secondary. Mack will continue to hold down the fort in the slot, but getting a guy like Alexander who could push Waynes for time as a rookie would be a win/win. He would do 1 of 2 things …. either light a fire under Waynes buttox to become the player we all thought he would be …. or just flat out beat Waynes for the spot and allow the Vikings to move on.
Round 3. Duke Ejiofor DE, Wake Forest
Yes, the Vikings have Griffen/Hunter as starters, but this will be Brian Robison’s last hoorah for the Vikings, leaving little depth at the position. Ejiofor is 6’4, 275 lbs and has been a force to recon with at Wake Forest. Even through various injuries throughout his college career he has been one of the best pass rushers in the ACC. If he can stay healthy he would be a steal in round 3.
